West Monroe receives perfect score in Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index

West Monroe is proud to announce that it received a score of 100–the highest possible result–on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the third consecutive year. For over 20 years, the Index has become the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report for measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

"For the third consecutive year, I am proud to share that West Monroe has achieved a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index,” said Tanya Moore, West Monroe’s chief people officer.

This achievement reflects our ongoing dedication to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone can show up as their authentic selves. Diversity, equity, and inclusion is a journey - we're proud of the work we’re doing and know there is more to be done.

 ”

West Monroe’s efforts in satisfying all the CEI’s criteria earned a score of 100 and the designation as recipient of the Equality 100 Award: Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion. 1,384 major U.S. companies rated this year and only 545 received a perfect score.

“For well over two decades, businesses have played an important role in furthering LGBTQ+ equality by centering employee needs and voices when it comes to workplace inclusion. While there is much more work to be done, year-over-year growth in CEI participation is evidence of a business community that recognizes the responsibility and value in upholding equity and inclusion,” said RaShawn “Shawnie” Hawkins, Human Rights Campaign Sr Director of Workplace Equality. “Our goal at the Human Rights Campaign Foundation is to work in a spirit of partnership with companies, providing educational resources and leading benchmarking, and collaborating on ways for businesses to support the LGBTQ+ community at a time when we face unprecedented legislative attacks, heightened anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and physical violence. The CEI is an ever-evolving tool – a blueprint that companies can use to show up more effectively in supporting their LGBTQ+ employees and their families.”

WMPride, West Monroe’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group, was formed to support West Monroe’s mission of building the next generation of leaders by attracting, retaining, and growing LGBTQ+ talent. As LGBTQ+ talent thrives, the firm’s cultural competence, authenticity, and employee fulfillment increases. This, in turn, enhances the value we create for our clients.

Today, WMPride has champions in each office and approximately 300 members  , including allies. Among other areas of focus, the group works directly with company leaders to develop education and influence policy. Areas of focus include:

  • Benefits and business practices: West Monroe has long provided healthcare benefits that support same sex partners and gender confirmation. More recently, the company made sure inclusivity was top of mind; for example, by providing gender-neutral restrooms  in three new office spaces.
  • Education and training: The company has prioritized training and discussion around bias in the workplace as part of its Inclusion and Diversity program. Last year, over 375 employees attended a WMPride townhall  on bringing your full self to work, and LGBTQ+ workplace inequities and retaining talent.
  • Community involvement and support: West Monroe supports LGBTQ+ community organizations in its markets through donations, volunteerism, and pro bono work. Examples of key partnerships include Trinity Place Shelter. Additionally, West Monroe has reviewed and updated corporate giving policies to avoid directing corporate support to organizations whose primary mission includes advocacy against LGBTQ+ equality.

The CEI rates employers providing these crucial protections to over 20 million U.S. workers and an additional 18 million abroad. Companies rated in the CEI include Fortune magazine’s 500 largest publicly traded businesses, American Lawyer magazine’s top 200 revenue-grossing law firms (AmLaw 200), and hundreds of publicly and privately held mid- to large-sized businesses.
