Kevin McCarty is the president and CEO of West Monroe Partners, responsible for all office and shared services operations across the firm. He is member of the firm’s board of directors, and head of the executive leadership team. In addition to leading a firm of more than 950 professionals in 10 offices across the United States, Kevin continues to serve clients embarking on large-scale transformational initiatives. Prior to assuming the role of president, Kevin served as managing director of West Monroe’s Chicago office and also provided oversight for all of the office’s industry teams.
Kevin co-founded West Monroe Partners in 2002 to deliver business strategy, process, people, and technology solutions using an integrated model that is uniquely suited to the needs of growing organizations. Previously, Kevin spent eight years with Arthur Andersen in Chicago as senior manager and director of Pervasive Computing, Wireless, and Infrastructure for the firm’s Business Consulting practice. Prior to joining Andersen, Kevin gained the foundation of his technical depth in infrastructure and software development through various other technology product and services organizations.
Kevin has guided the evolution of West Monroe Partners’ capabilities from a collection of services to an integrated set of solutions designed to help companies solve their most complex issues so they can adapt, shift gears, and thrive. Today, under Kevin’s leadership, West Monroe Partners maintains a team of highly experienced business and technology consultants who work with clients in dynamic industries, delivering solutions to companies undergoing profound change.
Throughout his consulting career, Kevin has led innovative projects for some of the largest global companies and upper middle-market challengers, as well as mission-driven and non-profit associations. He currently works with an array of upper middle-market businesses—typically ranging from $500 million to $2 billion in revenue.
Kevin also has been at the forefront of innovation in the industry, having played an instrumental role in creating a unique and recognized specialty in IT and business process due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. Over the past several years, Kevin and his West Monroe Partners team have applied this expertise in more than 1,300 deals for more than 100 strategic and financial buyers to help minimize risk, uncover hidden opportunities, and define realistic purchase prices. He has led execution of many mergers and acquisitions, carve outs, divestitures, and integrations of businesses onto a platform or under a holding company. In addition to his extensive work related to mergers and acquisitions, Kevin also has played a key role in helping private equity firms improve their internal operations and the performance of their portfolio companies. As a result, strategic and financial buyers across the nation seek Kevin’s expertise.
From a technology perspective, Kevin is an accomplished information technology executive and enterprise architect who combines software engineering, data management, connectivity and infrastructure, usability, and IT process expertise to deliver business change and results. Kevin's commitment to client service is well recognized and thoroughly documented with impressive client satisfaction surveys and testimonials. In 2013, Consulting Magazine recognized Kevin as one of its Top 25 Consultants in the “Excellence in Leadership” category.
Kevin is a board member of HFS Chicago Scholars, which provides educational mentoring and scholarships to bright Chicago inner-city youth who deserve access to the best education available irrespective of their family financial resources. He is also a member of The Chicago Club and Forbes Technology Council. Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management of Information Systems from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He lives in the Chicago area with his wife and two daughters.
