Jim McClanahan Joins West Monroe Energy & Utilities Practice

West Monroe Partners, a full-service North American business and technology consultancy, today announced that Jim McClanahan has joined the Energy & Utilities' Telecom practice as a senior principal, based in Chicago. He has more than 25 years of experience planning and delivering innovative technology solutions in the utility industry.

McClanahan’s areas of expertise include smart grid, power quality, and SCADA, as well as telecom disciplines such as data networking, PtP and PtMP wireless, and FTTx. During his career, he has assisted clients with developing business, operational, and sales and marketing plans, as well as introducing start-up capabilities.

Prior to joining West Monroe, McClanahan was director of smart grid projects for S&C Electric. In this capacity, he was responsible for planning, designing, installing, commissioning, and supporting complex smart grid solutions—typically working on hundreds of projects of various sizes each month. Previously, he was the company’s director of product support and field services. His other roles have included regional sales manager for Motorola, director of systems engineering for Riverstone Networks (now part of Alcatel-Lucent); several director roles with Nortel Networks; senior vice president for Provision Information Services; and various planning and management roles with Central and Southwest (now part of American Electric Power).

McClanahan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tulsa and a Master of Business Administration degree from Oklahoma State University. Jim is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and its Power & Energy Society (PES).
