West Monroe Provides Pro-bono Strategy Services for the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio

Project Provides a Plan for Expanding Services to More Families

West Monroe Partners, a North American business and technology consulting firm, today announced that it has provided pro-bono strategy and planning services for the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio, a nonprofit that provides free furniture to local families and individuals in need.

West Monroe Partners helped the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio develop a growth strategy based on data gathered through a floor space utilization analysis, bulk storage and material handling assessments. The three-phase project and its deliverables will assist the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio in formulating a strategy to expand its services to more families.

“We serve more than 4,000 families a year and our goal is to grow that number to 7,500 without reducing the amount of time spent with each family,” said Jim Stein, President of the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio. “With West Monroe’s help, we were able to identify key improvements to our facility’s layout, material handling, stocking, replenishment and storage that will help us achieve our goal.”

“The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio is an important resource in our community, and makes invaluable contributions to the well-being of families in the Columbus area,” said Jeremy Tancredi, a Senior Manager at West Monroe Partners in Columbus. “We’re glad to have had the opportunity to contribute our time and experience in supply chain management and workforce optimization to help the Furniture Bank broaden its reach.”

This project is part of West Monroe Partners’ “1+1+1 program” an ambitious social and environmental responsibility commitment the firm announced in early 2011. Following on the leadership efforts of its clients and business partners, West Monroe strives to contribute one percent of its talent in pro-bono work, one percent of its profits in donations to qualifying organizations, and one percent of its collective personnel time to community engagement and leadership activities. Following the rapid growth of its Columbus office, West Monroe hopes to partner with more local nonprofit organizations in the future.
