A specialist in cloud and infrastructure, Stu has a keen eye for the hidden risks, portfolio synergies, and potential carried interest benefits in private equity transactions. In particular, he has a unique ability to quantify complex technology, often with abstract benefits, into the impact on operating cash flows and investors’ ROI. His work has led to success for investors across a range of industries – from specialty chemicals to consumer products to online media/entertainment.
Stu’s diverse experience includes mergers and acquisitions (both as a buyer and as a seller), consulting, product management, professional services, corporate strategy, global marketing, finance, and engineering management. His comprehensive knowledge of virtualization, software-defined infrastructure, and cloud-native applications is particularly relevant in today’s environment.
Stu likes to build things. He founded our private investment in public equity (PIPE) initiative and also created business case financial models to assess the benefits of migrating to the cloud.
Prior to joining West Monroe, Stu led a global practice of nearly 100 consultants and architects for Juniper Networks, and has also worked for other technology companies such as Dell EMC and Infinera (formerly Coriant). He has an MBA from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in economics/computer science from Purdue University.
Stu describes himself as good at brainstorming. He and his wife have four children and a very spoiled border collie. He spends most of his free time with his kids, and much of that at swim practices. He also enjoys sports, writing, and travel. He has published a book for his kids and is working – albeit more slowly than expected – on a novel.
Originally from the Detroit area, Stu considers Chicago his adopted hometown. He loves everything about it except the weather, the traffic, and – again – the weather.
Stu is always happy to help out any team member who could benefit from his skills and expertise. He is a member of Hinsdale (suburban Chicago) Community Services an often works at the food pantry. He is also a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.
