John Hepokoski

John Hepokoski

Senior Manager Energy & Utilities Chicago

John has a unique window into the change facing utilities. He has been on the front lines as a positive force for that change for much of his career, collaborating with senior leaders to foster a culture of innovation that facilitates complex modernization and transformation strategies. He is particularly adept at bringing functions together across the utility workforce to enable strategic initiatives.

His diverse investor-owned utility experience – which also includes extensive background in regulatory compliance and reporting, financial reporting, and operational strategy – enables him to bring a client’s perspective to everything he does.

Prior to joining West Monroe, he spent 13 years with Exelon Corporation in various roles, including director of strategic initiatives and chief of staff to the president and CEO. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and an MBA degree from the University of Florida.

What makes John different

He is all about relationships and networking. He works behind the scenes to connect the dots – and especially the people.

John has four children, so most of his spare time is committed to getting them to the pool, rink, field, or gym. His favorite travel destination is south Florida, which his family called home for four years.

He is a music fanatic who has played drums since age 10. He LOVES live concerts and has played drums at historic Chicago music venues such as The Vic Theatre, The House of Blues, and The Cubby Bear.

Where John makes an impact

He is on the board and treasurer of Silk Road Rising, an artmaking and art service non-profit organization that shapes conversations about Asian and Middle Eastern Americans. He was also a volunteer firefighter in his community – one that he loves for its tight-knit, family atmosphere – for eight years.
