West Monroe congratulates Chief People Officer Susan Stelter for her recognition as one of Chicago’s Notable Leaders in HR by Crain’s Chicago Business. The list celebrates human resources executives within the Chicago area who are leaders in their field, mentor other HR leaders, and have demonstrated the ability to effect change in the areas recruitment, retaining talent, improving efficiency, enhancing corporate culture, and promoting inclusion and diversity.

A member of the founding group of West Monroe in 2002, Susan has contributed to the development of virtually every aspect of the firm’s operations. In particular, she has played a key role in shaping and nurturing the firm’s distinctive, award-winning people-centric culture in alignment with the firm’s values as the firm has grown rapidly to 1,400 employees. For example, she helped orchestrate West Monroe Partners’ conversion to an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) trust in 2012 to create equity for all employees. She also participated in refreshing the firm’s mission to focus on building the next generation of leaders within the organization and our communities.

Tapping Susan’s passions for culture as well as personal and professional development, West Monroe elevated her to the role of chief people officer in January 2017. In this capacity, she oversees an array of people-related matters, including talent acquisition, development, management, HR operations, and corporate communications. She also oversees the firm’s commitment to building an inclusive work environment that fosters and promotes diversity.

“Since our formation when we collaborated to define our values, Susan has been instrumental in building and strengthening our people-first culture and mission to develop the next generation of leaders,” said Kevin McCarty, CEO of West Monroe. “Susan knows that employee success is directly linked with client success, and she has built and led a strong HR function that fosters an environment that supports our employees’ growth and development, keeps attrition low, attracts talent, and wins awards.”

Crain’s Chicago Business published its list of Notable Leaders in HR in its February 3, 2020 edition.
