An accomplished advisor and entrepreneur, Rick Skinner has been at the leading edge of innovation his entire career. He brings a unique blend of experience in cybersecurity, analytics, big data, Internet of Things (IoT), market intelligence, digital marketing, software as a service, and cloud computing to clients using technology to drive growth and market advantage.
Rich joined West Monroe in 2018 after serving roles with high tech and innovative companies on cybersecurity, risk management, physical security, and other strategic issues. His prior experience includes IBM, where he was responsible for worldwide mainframe risk and security strategies and solutions, as well as a variety of roles with Ernst & Young, State Farm, Caterpillar, and CNA Insurance, and two start-up security and risk management companies.
In addition to his work in the technology sector, Rich was a co-owner and franchisee of Papa John’s Pizza restaurants in downtown Chicago for four years. During that time, his restaurant group grew to seven stores and more than 200 employees, and it became the largest online, mobile ordering, and digital revenue marketing group in the entire Papa John’s system.
Rich serves on the executive committee for the Chicago US Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force, various security committees for the Healthcare Sector involving HHS (Health and Human Services), and is a regular speaker at industry conferences.
Rich earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Networking & Telecommunications Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity/Information Security/Biometrics from Purdue University. The latter is one of the first graduate programs sponsored by the Department of Defense and the National Security Agency. He carries the CISSP information security certification and has been at the leading edge of Cyber Security his entire career.
