Chip Shields is an experienced integration management consultant whose experience centers on the consolidation of shared services functions such as sales, marketing, human resources, finance and accounting, and information technology. He also has substantial integration management office (IMO) leadership experience across industries, including healthcare, manufacturing and distribution, and field services.
Most recently, Chip managed the application consolidation of two $2 billion field services companies as part of the transaction’s overall IMO. Due to the national footprint and regulatory requirements, the consolidation required management across accounting, finance, and HR functions, as well as multiple regional go-live events. The transition included consolidating all accounts receivable and accounts payable processes to achieve operational synergies of $2.5 million.
In addition to integration experience, Chip has managed multiple IT and shared service department stand-ups during carve-out transactions. One recent example is the stand-up of back-office teams for a new company carved out from a Fortune 250 corporation. The carve-out required hiring more than 25 shared services personnel to assume functional responsibilities from the parent company during the transaction services agreement (TSA) period, as well as supporting operations of more than 500 field technicians going forward.
Prior to joining the Mergers & Acquisitions practice, Chip worked with an array of clients to increase organizational flexibility and respond to market changes by leveraging technology. For example, he managed the development, testing, and roll out of new provider and member management modules of a claims processing platform for one of the nation’s largest dental insurance third-party administrators.Chip earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from DePauw University.
