Brian Paulen

Service: Technology
Location: Seattle

Brian Paulen is a managing director and the leader of West Monroe Partners’ Seattle office, as well as a member of the firm’s Executive Team. He is responsible for strategy, oversight, and performance of the firm’s second largest office and for the office’s delivery of core business solutions built on an uncommon blend of business consulting and deep technology expertise. Brian draws on an extensive background delivering strategic, technology-enabled customer experience and analytics solutions on various platforms to help clients adapt their businesses to evolving markets and achieve strategic business goals.

Highlights

Throughout his career, Brian has focused on consulting with clients to maximize their technology investments. Applying broad business and technology acumen, he is skilled in determining system requirements and specifications for complex environments, and he has extensive large-scale project and program-management experience across all phases of delivering strategic solutions. His current and past clients represent a wide range of industries, including financial services, retail, advertising, media, healthcare, software, education, aerospace and defense, telecommunications, and municipalities.

In addition to guiding growth of West Monroe’s Seattle office and presence in the Pacific Northwest, Brian is leading the firm’s initiative to promote workforce diversity by strengthening its culture of inclusion.

Brian joined West Monroe Partners with its acquisition of Madrona Solutions Group, a Seattle-based consultancy he co-founded in 2005 to help clients build CRM solutions on the Dynamics CRM and Salesforce.com platforms. As CEO, he guided Madrona Solutions Group’s business, managed its client and partner relationships, and led its sales and marketing functions. Under Brian’s leadership, Madrona Solutions Group was recognized as one of the fastest growing private companies in Washington and received various “Best Company to Work For” awards.

Prior to founding Madrona Solutions Group, Brian was the director of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) practice at Slalom Consulting. Earlier, he was a member of the CRM team at Equarius (now EMC), working primarily with clients in the Pacific Northwest. He began his career at Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), in its New York office.

In 2009, the Puget Sound Business Journal recognized Brian as one of its “40 under 40”— top business professionals under the age of 40 who have harnessed their entrepreneurial spirit to become leaders in their business, their industry, and their community at an early age.

A recognized subject-matter expert on business and technology topics, Brian has co-authored two books on Microsoft technologies, CRM Fundamentals and Pro SQL Server 2008 Analytics. Brian earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and International Business from Lehigh University. He is president of The First Tee of Greater Seattle, an organization that positively impacts the lives of young people by teaching life lessons and leadership skills through the game of golf.
