Matthew Panszczyk is a senior manager in West Monroe’s Energy & Utilities practice. He has nearly 15 years of utility and technical program management experience, drawing on an extensive background in both transmission and distribution disciplines.
Matthew Panszczyk leads cross-functional teams that execute innovative projects, programs, and pilots – including large-scale grid modernization, transmission, and substation infrastructure initiatives – for utilities across the country. These projects require the support and collaboration of stakeholders across the utility, including executives and staff in the legal, system operations, regulatory, engineering, field operations, human resources, relay protection, smart grid, finance, and other functions.
Matt also works with utility executives to develop grid modernization strategy, create sound business cases and roadmaps, and navigate regulatory requirements to pave the way for efficient execution and exceed program goals. He has played an instrumental role in helping many investor-owned utilities assess and evaluate smart grid technologies such as distributed automation; volt/VAR optimization (VVO), fault location, isolation, and service restoration (FLISR); and advanced metering data systems (AMDS); as well as many distributed energy resources (DER) technologies such as battery storage, solar, and biogas.
Matt’s success is directly related to his ability to maintain excellent client relationships, develop rapport with all levels of staff, and promote a positive working environment by recognizing employee contributions.
Matt joined West Monroe in 2017, after a progressive, 13-year career with ComEd. His roles included leadership and management positions in planning, field operations, project management, smart grid, and distribution automation. For example, he led the distribution automation department responsible for evaluating, planning, and executing new smart grid initiatives. Matt was also president of a luxury home builder in the Chicago area.
Matt earned a Bachelor of Science in Leadership & Organizational Development from Northwestern University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame.
