Over the course of his career, Tom has worked as a business consultant and technology and transaction advisor across a broad range of industries, including banking, healthcare, manufacturing, software technology, and private equity. Tom has spent considerable time advising clients on transaction due diligence, post-merger integration, corporate divestitures, and value creation.
Tom has become a recognized leader in serving companies involved in mergers and acquisitions, with a distinctive ability to help clients achieve transaction and growth goals through innovative business and technology strategies. He works with leading private equity firms from transaction diligence to portfolio improvement and with strategic buyers to prepare for investments and divestitures and to integrate acquisitions. Tom’s expertise spans the transaction lifecycle from acquisition readiness, and operational and IT due diligence to integration planning and post-merger integration and carve-out activities.
With West Monroe, Tom has been involved in launching, growing, and leading practices in Chicago, Seattle, and Minneapolis, as well as Consumer & Industrial Products. Prior to opening West Monroe Partners’ Minneapolis office in 2013, Tom worked in the Seattle office from 2006 to 2012, where he was responsible for building the West Coast Private Equity practice. He served as a practice leader, providing oversight and delivery for the Seattle office’s private equity clients and respective portfolio companies. He joined West Monroe Partners in 2002 in Chicago as a leader in the Technology Integration practice.
Tom developed his innate blend of business acumen and technology know-how early in his career with Arthur Andersen in Chicago, where he worked as a senior consultant in the firm’s Business Consulting Advanced Technology Group. Tom worked on several transformational engagements for one of the largest clients in the Central region—designing and implementing technology solutions to support strategic growth areas, which involved cross-functional operational and technology initiatives.
Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Management Information Systems from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he continues to serve on the board for the business school’s ISA program. When he isn’t working, you’ll find him playing a lot of pond hockey and skiing during the winter months and enjoying the many year-round outdoor activities that Minnesota has to offer with his family.
