Ellen Abshire specializes in leading complex healthcare compliance initiatives, optimizing operational capabilities, and guiding payer, provider, and government agency IT functions and operations through large-scale technology and business transformation. She has substantial experience with back- and middle-office technology solutions, including modernizing legacy platforms, implementing third-party packages, and developing custom applications. She also has led multiple member migrations involving more than 250,000 lives.
Over the course of her career, Ellen has approached complex transformation as a client, a business process outsourcer, an integrator, a strategy consultant, and an independent consultant. She considers this diverse perspective invaluable, as it helps her achieve results in challenging situations and bring together multiple constituents with different goals and concerns.
Ellen also has experience with managed care organizations (MCOs), including both Medicare and Medicaid, as well as with leading healthcare operations—the latter providing valuable perspective about the people who operate systems and the members and providers impacted by them.
Ellen joined West Monroe Partners in 2016 as part of the firm’s acquisition of Invoyent, LLC, a healthcare business and technology consultancy for which she was a senior manager. Previously, she was president of Operandas Consulting LLC, which helped payers and providers navigate back-office systems and large transformational initiatives.
Ellen has held other consulting roles with Diamond Management & Technology Consultants and Accenture. She also was an operations director for CIGNA. She began her career as a quality/provider relations manager for EDS/HP, responsible for delivering Medicaid management information systems (MMIS) solutions.
Ellen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens University of Charlotte.
