West Monroe Hires Alberto Ruocco as Chief Information Officer

CHICAGO – West Monroe Partners, a national business and technology consultancy, today announced that it has created the new position of chief information officer and hired Alberto Ruocco to fill the role, effective July 24, 2019. He is responsible for establishing an IT vision and strategy and overseeing all facets of IT operations. Ruocco, based in Chicago, reports to West Monroe’s president and CEO and is a member of the executive team. Previously, as a senior executive partner with Gartner, he advised CIOs and their teams across the U.S. North region.

As CIO, Ruocco oversees corporate operations applications and solutions to support client services, IT governance and strategy, IT process and program management, IT operations, knowledge management, data and analytics, security and infrastructure, vendor and partner management, and IT due diligence and integration support for the firm’s acquisitions.

Over the course of his career, Ruocco has worked with organizations ranging from startups to global multinational enterprises. His extensive IT strategy and implementation experience spans many countries, industry sectors, and business challenges.

“Just as it is for our clients, our internal IT foundation is increasingly integral to our strategy, growth, success, and financial performance. Therefore, we believe it is essential that the IT function has a voice at our leadership table,” said Kevin McCarty, West Monroe’s president and CEO. “We’re excited for Alberto to bring his vision and unique capabilities to guide how we invest in and leverage technology, with the end goal of creating more efficient operations and ability to scale for the future.”

Prior to joining Gartner, Ruocco was vice president and chief information officer for American Electric Power. He led efforts to transform the Fortune 200 company through a 10-year telecommunication, infrastructure, and applications renewal program. He also directed growth of the cybersecurity team and presented frequently to the board on IT and cybersecurity risk management. In addition, he has held CIO roles with BlueStar Energy Solutions (acquired by American Electric Power) and Kerry Americas, a food ingredients manufacturer.

"Collaboration is at the heart of the uncommon blend of business consulting acumen and deep technology expertise we bring to clients. I look forward to the challenge of aligning technology investments with business strategy to ensure that our people can work and collaborate easily anytime, anywhere to serve clients,” Ruocco said. “I am excited about this opportunity to contribute to the progressive and rapid growth of a firm that continues to disrupt its marketplace – and I see great opportunities to leverage digital technology to continue to improve client services.”

Earlier in his career, Ruocco spent more than 20 years in consulting. His management roles included executive vice president and leader of the Manufacturing, Distribution & Trade practice of The Revere Group (an NTT DATA Group Company), as well as leader of the firm’s Integrated Enterprise practice and managing director of the Chicago office. He was also a Senior Manager in Deloitte Consulting’s CIO Advisory Services and Manufacturing industry practices.

Ruocco joins an expanding C-suite at West Monroe. Earlier this year, the firm hired Kevin Rooney to fill the new role of chief administrative officer. Additionally, it promoted three leaders to C-level positions to strengthen organizational growth: Doug Armstrong to chief operating officer, Tom Bolger to chief strategy officer, and Casey Foss to chief marketing officer.

West Monroe has grown from a 2002 startup to a firm of more than 1,100 employees with nine offices across the United States. In 2017, it announced plans to double its workforce over the following five years. The firm earned more than 25 awards in 2018 for its people-first culture.
