Minneapolis-based Senior Director adds 25-plus years of operations and technical expertise, specifically Industry 4.0 solutions experience.

CHICAGO – West Monroe Partners, a national business and technology consultancy, today announced that Dennis McRae has joined the firm as a senior director and national leader of its Consumer & Industrial Products team, which services clients across the product and manufacturing value chain. He will be based in the firm’s Minneapolis office. McRae has more than 25 years of experience working with organizations to improve top-line growth, market share, and earnings. Most recently, he was a vice president and head of the Industrials practice with Hitachi Consulting Corporation.

McRae balances executive leadership and P&L experience with functional expertise in supply chain optimization, operations management, warehousing and distribution, product development and innovation, engineering, and government and regulatory matters. In particular, he has experience developing Industry 4.0 solutions in areas that include digital factory, digital supply chain, and predictive asset management.

“Dennis McRae brings an enviable track record for mentoring and mobilizing executive leadership teams to achieve strategic growth and P&L transformation,” said Kevin McCarty, president and chief executive officer. “He has a base of experience and industry expertise that is vital to developing and growing technology-based business solutions for industrial and consumer products organizations that are in the midst of transforming their operations for a digital age and customer base.”

McRae has worked with organizations ranging from startups and turnarounds to Fortune 500 enterprises, as well as private equity firms and their portfolio companies. His broad industry experience includes the aerospace, automotive, industrials and discrete manufacturing, food and beverage, consumer products, telecommunications, packaging, chemicals, and medical device sectors. He also has extensive experience with mergers, acquisitions, and strategic alliances and partners.

“Dennis McRae’s blend of industry acumen, experience, and leadership will be a tremendous asset to our consumer products and industrial manufacturing client base across our core geographic markets,” said Tom Ewers, managing director, leader of West Monroe’s Minneapolis office. “We continue to grow rapidly and broaden our industry focus as a firm, and this is yet another step in doing so. We are excited to be at the center of continuing to build our firm’s Consumer & Industrial Products capabilities and credentials and look forward to supporting Dennis in his new role.”

While with Hitachi Consulting, McRae was responsible for overseeing delivery of operational improvement and technology services to global clients. He also led the firm’s Industry 4.0 initiative. Previously, he was vice president of operations for Celerant Consulting (acquired by Hitachi Consulting in 2012) for 10 years and director of operations for Cambridge Management Consultants. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

“West Monroe’s uncommon blend of business acumen and deep technology expertise is uniquely suited for helping products companies connect data across the value stream and enable a predictive lean supply chain and smart manufacturing,” said McRae. “I look forward to bringing leadership and new perspectives to this facet of our client base, as well as to expanding our existing Consumer & Industrial Products team across our offices.”
