Gil Mermelstein Joins West Monroe Partners as a Managing Director

Chicago, IL – August 26, 2010 – West Monroe Partners, a management consulting firm, today announced that Gil Mermelstein will join the company on September 1, 2010, as a managing director responsible for building the firm’s New York office and for leading practice development and client service delivery across the US East Coast. A former senior partner at BearingPoint Europe, he will play a key role in advancing West Monroe Partners’ strategic alliance with that organization, announced in March 2010. He also will serve on West Monroe Partners’ Executive Committee and will work closely with the firm’s Banking & Insurance practice.


Mermelstein joins West Monroe Partners from BearingPoint Europe, a €500 million organization with more than 120 partners and 3,000 consultants, where he most recently was head of Management Consulting in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He worked closely with industry segment leaders to restructure the business and resume a growth trajectory in the midst of 2009’s challenging market conditions. Mermelstein was instrumental in formalizing the strategic alliance between BearingPoint Europe and West Monroe Partners, a relationship that will expand the two firms’ global market coverage and enhance services to their international clients.

Mermelstein previously was a partner in BearingPoint’s Financial Services Strategy and Transformation practice in New York and a senior vice president for MBNA/Bank of America. His transformation experience includes linking corporate and business unit strategy with large-scale transformation including business and operating model design, revenue enhancement, customer management strategies, process re-engineering, business process outsourcing and offshoring , strategic cost reduction, and development of performance management. He is also an experienced M&A practitioner.. He has driven major global transformation programs in retail and commercial banking, capital markets, asset management, and insurance in extensively both the United States and Europe.

Earlier in his career, Mermelstein served in management roles for A.T. Kearney and PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York, London and Tel Aviv. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Master of Business Administration degree with concentration in strategy and corporate finance from INSEAD in Fountainebleau, France.
