Business in the right direction

April 2008

To our clients and friends,

When organizations seek better results, they often look first for ways to do things faster. In many cases, what they really need is to do things differently. In this newsletter, we explore—and, hopefully, demystify a bit—the concept of business process re-engineering.  This practice of looking at business processes (i.e., the way an organization does things) before making re-organization changes or systems decisions usually produces tangible business results—often at a lower cost than simply changing a system.

Also in this newsletter are articles on several other timely topics:

  • “Green” IT initiatives
  • Business process management (BPM) considerations for banks
  • And, risk management in the supply chain, and how it can fuel top-line revenue growth
West Monroe Partners continues to take steps to build a strong partnership with Microsoft—applying our Gold Certified Partner status to help our clients address a wide array of issues using Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007, Office Communication Server and other products. Over the past six months, we’ve worked with Microsoft to develop various information sessions and educational programs. One of these—our Rules of the Game program for Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007—recently received a Microsoft Marketing Excellence Award.

The Rules of the Game campaign featured a deck of playing cards that displays the many ways that companies are using Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007 to improve productivity and collaboration, including:

  • Coordinating projects, calendars, and schedules
  • Synchronizing shared documents and tasks with Outlook
  • Managing business processes
  • Creating effective team sites
  • Providing an efficient and familiar content management interface for content owners
Please reply here if you would like a copy of the Rules of the Game kit to learn more about this powerful collaboration and knowledge-sharing tool.

Thank you for your continuing feedback, and please don’t hesitate to let us know what you’d like to read about in the June issue of Best of the West.

Regards,

Dean
