Neil Hartman


Neil Hartman is a director in West Monroe Partners’ Banking Practice. He leads the firm’s Midwest Banking team and is a seasoned financial services industry professional with a strong blend of business consulting and technology expertise and more than 15 years of experience helping institutions plan and implement transformational change.


Neil Hartman applies significant financial services experience to assist financial institutions with critical business and technology challenges. His experience spans the areas of operational efficiency and optimization, process re-engineering, acquisition integration, capacity management, organizational strategy, project and program management, vendor selection and implementation, data analytics, and business performance metrics.

Since joining West Monroe, Neil has led multiple teams of business consultants and deep technology specialists to deliver transformational engagements for middle market banks. These projects, which often involve application of leading technologies to address an array of business needs, include M&A readiness assessments and target due diligence programs, core conversion program management, loan origination process re-engineering including system vendor selections and implementations, and treasury management on-boarding transformation.

Most recently, Neil led the conversion and integration of two similarly sized community banks, with responsibilities that included participating as a key contributor on the executive steering committee; constructing and executing the system conversion plan, including testing, training, and migrating data for the core platform and all ancillary systems; organizing the renaming and rebranding of the entire institution; and managing day-to-day project activities.

Before joining West Monroe Partners, Neil was a vice president and senior operations consultant at Bank of America, where he delivered operational and strategic insight to the large corporate lending, commercial lending, specialty credit, and treasury lines of business. Previously, he was a vice president in the Treasury Management division of La Salle Bank, where he provided consultative and technical services to commercial clients and other financial services organizations. In addition to working with LaSalle’s treasury clients, Neil led projects to re-engineer the treasury product implementation processes and provided expertise throughout multiple treasury product development opportunities. During the LaSalle Bank-Bank of America Integration, Neil held multiple management and subject-matter specialist roles as a member of the conversion team.

Neil earned a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and Strategic Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He holds a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation.
