Keith Campbell


Keith Campbell is a director in West Monroe Partners’ Private Equity practice. He has more than nine years of management, technology, and operations consulting experience, primarily on M&A carve-out transactions for leading private equity and strategic buyers.  In 2014, Keith was named one of 35 “Rising Stars of the Profession” by Consulting magazine in the Client Service category, the Management Consulting industry’s leading publication.


Keith Campbell’s unique blend of business consulting and technology experience ranges from business and IT strategy development through implementation, including IT due diligence, software selection, enterprise systems implementation, and program management.

He is co-leader of the firm’s carve-out service offering (CORE), which helps investors achieve business goals through efficient design and execution of technology and other aspects of carve-out transactions. Keith has developed a strong reputation as a thought leader and expert in helping private equity clients and their targets identify risks and one-time separation costs, develop and negotiate transition services agreements (TSA), prepare for “Day 1”, and establish separation management offices (SMO).  

Keith’s industry experience spans a range of sectors, including manufacturing and distribution, healthcare and life sciences, and software/high-tech.  His systems experience has been focused on helping middle-market clients address specific business needs by selecting, architecting, and implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP), eCommerce, QMS, TMS, and HRIS systems. 

Examples of his M&A experience includes:
  • Advised strategic and private equity buyers on more than 75 carve-out due diligence, planning, and execution transactions
  • For $1B Oil & Gas strategic, served as IT SMO lead responsible for supply chain and IT carve-out/merger integration of $225M division from $2B Parent.  Reported to CIO and oversaw team responsible for business applications (HRIS, terminal inventory management system, travel & expense, etc.) and IT infrastructure separation/integration (e.g. AD and email, MPLS network, data center move, Citrix, telephony, etc.)
  • For $1B Industrial Distributor, served as IT SMO lead reporting to CIO for carve-out of steel distribution business unit from $10B Parent.  Responsible for overseeing team of 30 responsible for standup of new IT infrastructure (server, network, collaboration services, telephony) & implementing/ migrating all enterprise applications (ERP, EDI, TMS, HRIS data warehouse, business intelligence, trade compliance, sales tax, MSDS, etc.)

Keith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He holds certifications in Microsoft Dynamics (MCP) and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
