Urban areas in many parts of the country are undergoing a renaissance and businesses and industry are seeking lower-cost areas of the country to do business. These developments require new investment in energy infrastructure. Population shifts and business relocations, coupled with an aging energy system and power plant closures, are factors fueling the drive toward new and more distributed electric generation resources and the need for more gas pipeline expansions to keep pace.
